Hand Warmers by X-Static Woollies is a product inspired by the physical phenomenon of static electricity. We are sometimes exposed to this reaction when our hair decides to have a life of its own. This electrical phenomenon can also be experienced when our finger tip sets off a little spark and in lightning storms.
The hand warmers project began with researching the physics of electricity and of static electricity in particular. While studying this aspect, the project was inspired by the imbalance between negative & positive charges in objects which create static and is expressed in different manners such as raising hair. The project started with a mix of ideas which included carpets and leg warmers, continued into exploring patterns, knitting techniques, string types and color schemes.
